It's quite an amazing place. Teylers is an excellent museum and I suspect we’ll be paying a visit another time when we next visit Haarlem. We spent a couple of hours looking round but there’s really too much to see during one visit. The collection mainly features works from the Dutch Romantic School and the later Hague School and Amsterdam Impressionists. It was difficult to get a shot that really shows off the room, so I resorted to embedding a picture from Wikipedia which was taken from the balcony, which isn’t accessible to the public.

Teylers Museum is worth visiting even without the extensive collection of paintings, drawings, ancient scientific instruments, old coins, fossils and minerals and valuable books. The museum is absolutely fascinating if you enjoy history. The building is absolutely stunning and worth visiting. The Teylers Museum is the oldest museum in the Netherlands, dating back to 1784. It’s the only place in the world where you can see an authentic museum interior from the 18th century.
