How many hours do you need in Zaanse Schans?

You should plan at least 3-4 hours for a visit to Zaanse Schans. Our self-guided tour takes about 2 hours to complete if walked continuously, but the beauty of an audio guide is that you can pause whenever you want. Most visitors spend half a day here, allowing time to explore windmills, visit craft demonstrations, and enjoy traditional Dutch pancakes at one of the local eateries. Allow 5-6 hours total including travel time. You can easily see Zaanse Schans in one day from Amsterdam by taking the 15-minute train ride from Amsterdam Central Station.
